X-Marks the Spot Gloves Featured/Treasury

Some of you may remember my X-Marks the Spot gloves that I posted about earlier in the year.
Well, I found out that today they were featured in an ETSY treasury.
I couldn't be more flattered and excited.
If you'd like to check out the treasury click here.
Please leave a comment.
Check out my item.
Check out some of the great other items.
My personal favorite is the pair of button style earrings.

P.S. I just wanted to mention that I have extended the giveaway to next Sunday due to low entries. So, pass the word along. Plus, I will be setting up another giveaway later this week to celebrate passing my months end goal of 25 followers.

{Frugal Friday} Decorated Mirror

At the end of January I picked up a white full length mirror at Target for $7.50
(By the way do you notice that I visit Target often?)

Anyway, I had been there earlier that week and saw it on sale for $10.50.
I knew I had a gift certificate at home, so I decided to go back that Friday.
When I did the price had dropped once more.
YIPPEE!!!

I swooped it up and brought it home.

I hung it.

I was soooooo excited to FINALLY have a full length mirror after seven years in this house.
Seriously, how did I survive.

As I looked at my new piece I thought to myself that some embellishment might be fun.

I had seen frames like this

and this

and this

Wait, one more
See that rosette? Remember my love of houndstooth?

all over blogland,
and I thought that the idea could be easily transferred to the frame of the mirror.

So one night I got to work.
I pulled out some remnants and scraps that I had in the colors that I wanted.
I also got out a handful of buttons that I thought might work.
Finally, I grabbed the three pack of printed pins/buttons that my aunt had bought me for Christmas.

I was ready to begin.

I made several rosettes.
I used the pins/buttons as centers on the three largest.
Then I organized them in a manner that I thought would look nice on the frame of the mirror.

After that was all said and done,
I got out my handy dandy glue gun and started gluing.

VOILA!!! Here is the final product.

Yes, that is a child's toy on the floor behind me in the mirror.

{Obsession} Ann Wood

I wasn't really planning on posting anything tonight,
but then I was playing around on the web and landed
at one of my favorite places.

I just couldn't resist sharing.

I have this secret little obsession with fabric artist

Have you ever heard of her?
Her work just makes me swoon and covet.

Yes. Covet.
I know that it is a sin to covet.

Just look at these little beauties though.
This little boat would look ridiculously cute in my master bedroom.
I LOVE that it says TRUST.
\

Wouldn't these be a great anniversary gift from my hubs. Yes!

Little Red Riding Hood is my FAVORITE fairy tale

and this pirate is to die for

In addition to these great birds,
she makes spiders, owls, bats, and larger paper mache ships.

She is also a great photographer.
All of these pieces are made from tattered vintage finds
that she photographs prior to deconstruction.

The photos are worthy of the title of art by themselves.

If you are falling in love with these little birds,
just like I have,
go and check her out at

She is also on facebook
and has a blog

She recently posted a paper mache tea cup tutorial on her blog for her readers.

Plus, this is where you can see all of her materials
before they come to life as whimsical creatures.

Swooning Over Houndstooth

Okay, so I have ALWAYS loved houndstooth.

Since, I have started blogging this love has grown, especially when I see cute projects like this

or this

or this

I mean seriously, how can a gal not be in love.

So, this brings me to today.
We left a bit early for Costco,
okay like an hour early.
This gave us time to stop by the Home Fabric discount store in town.
I have only been in there once in the 61/2 years I've lived here.

I really need to recover my couch because Monster covered one of the arms in Baby Vicks.
AKA Baby Grease.

Plus, one of the zippers on a cushion cover broke.
Oh yeah, and the couch was free from a wonderful friend.

So as I was walking in, I thought I would check out the Clearance fabric in the bins on the sidewalk.
There it was!

IMMEDIATELY
I fell in love.
I saw it from far off.
There were not one but two bolts of deliciously perfect houndstooth.

SEE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now it will clash with this Todd Oldham chair right here,

but no worries it too will be getting a make over because I purchased it all.
There should be just enough, especially since I think I might cover the back pillows in a solid.

I think Monster likes it too.

What are your thoughts?
Let me know. I am always open to ideas,
especially considering what a brave endeavor this will be.

I hope to have it done by summer.
The store I purchased it at is having a free workshop on how
to make a cover pattern and make a cover next month.
So, I probably won't do anything until then.

I am still excited though.
